...a rather daunting idea, eh? An "About Me" page? One could treat this like a 30 year class re-union (oops, aging myself) and layer on the BS or just let the dice roll. Well, 7 come 11...here we go. I believe there's no better place to watch a sunrise than while on a lake, no better place to watch a moonrise than a mountain valley. If we truly treated others as we'd like to be in return, there'd be a hell of a lot more smiling people around. That last one also sums up our business philosophy. Pictures are there to SHOW you what's being offered, not to HIDE imperfections. If we see a flaw, we'll show it or mention it. We DO NOT clean or do anything to antique, vintage, collectible or ANY item for that matter. We offer it as we find it, there's nothing done other than dusting. We don't wipe down, spray down, clean-up, polish, repair, restore, tinker, tighten, fancify, beautify or embellish any item we offer. Our job is to accurately offer items for your consideration, it is NOT to use smoke and mirrors to sell. What one person considers a lovely patina, another considers to be in desperate need of cleaning...who are we to judge or decide? So whether it's PRR Railroadiana, an antiquarian book from 1838, a vintage ACL soda bottle from the 20s or Ephemera from 1903, we'll always offer it to you in an honest, accurate and as found condition. Smoke and mirrors? Not here thank you very much...and yes, it is a smoke-free home!!

Somewhere in the dim past I crossed paths with my first REALLY good cup of espresso, fresh ground beans, a Barista who pulled the perfect double into a pre-warmed Illy cup...things haven't been the same since. Not only did it prompt me to dive deeply into the World of Caffeine, it also had me dive deeply into my pockets realizing THIS was to be my morning drink of choice, Mr. Coffee dripping away or that quick double spoon of freeze-dried crystals just wasn't going to cut it anymore. I tweaked my way thru a machine and blade grinder or two before I ended up with a Pasquini Livia 90 and a Rancilio Rocky DL to go with it. Truth be told, I made more than my fair share of bad, very bad shots, cappuccinos and lattes before things started clicking. I also went through multiple makes and styles of cups before I ended up right back where it all started...drinking from pre-warmed Illy espresso cups or Illy cappuccino cups. They had the right weight/mass and feel, more so than any of the other cups I've tried. I even picked up some Illy lungo cups for those times I'm pulling triples, the standard Illy espresso cup is too small, the Illy cappuccino cup too big. The lungo cup is right in between and perfect, holding approx 3 1/2 to 4 ounces it's my go-to cup for triples. Which leads me to my affection for Illy.... Illy cups, an art form or functional cup? How about both! From their standard Logo cafe/bar grade cups through their Collection and Presentation series I found they fit nicely and go well with Antiques and Collectibles. I guess it was sitting with a morning triple and looking at some recently acquired railroadiana and antiquarian and collectible books that I thought it'd be nice to be able to offer others the enjoyment I've had with Illy, and so it came to be. Yes, rounding out the offerings of vintage memories (isn't that what most Collecting is about?) are our offerings of most Illy Logo cups and a good smattering of Collection and Collector series also, from Biennale to Norma J to Dreams and Conflicts, we're pleased to be able to offer them to you along with most other collectables, from vintage toys to ACL bottles, from railroading to automobilia, from Ephemera to brewerania, we just enjoy the memories, the friends, the smiles and stories shared with us by those whose paths we cross. It's amazing how many people have such deep, special memories of early childhood toys and books...one of mine was the Little Golden Book entitled Pierre Bear, I almost always have copies of that book on hand. Why? I'm not sure, maybe since it's been special to me I want others to have the same opportunity. It's often said we keep near to us those things we love, those things that have value to and for us. Why would I want to offer less to anyone else? Hmm...now we're getting into other personal philosophies....might be best to leave that for another page, another day!
