I buy, sell, trade, and collect a variety of Law Enforcement Memorabilia.  While my patch collection consists of patches from all over the world, I primarily focus on Iowa, Chicago, the LAPD, the NYPD, and some US Federal Agencies, the DEA in particular.  I also collect anything, from any agency, having to do with Drug/Narcotic Enforcement.  Lately, I seem to be adding Alaska as an area of interest, it may be that I watch too much Discovery Channel and can't get enough of Deadliest Catch and Ice Road Truckers.

I also have an extensive collection of Badges from Iowa, California, and any other place that catches my eye.  A number of Drug/Narcotics badges also are in my collection.

The First DMPD Patch - 1952

The Des Moines Police Museum & Historical Society

I am a Lifetime Member and an Assistant Curator for the Museum.  The Museum features a variety of pieces chronicling the history of the Des Moines Police Department.  The collection consists of old Uniforms, Hats, Badges, Service Weapons (including a beautiful Thompson 1921A), Patches, Handcuffs, an old Switchboard Console, and a Three-Wheeled Servi-Car, among many other items.  There is also an interesting assortment of items confiscated over the years, including antique Slot Machines amd some truly bizarre, and highly illegal, homemade weapons.  If you are ever in Des Moines, please stop by.

We are also trying to include items representing other Iowa Law Enforcement Agencies.  We currently have over 1,150 Iowa Patches and a growing number of Badges.  Our goal is to have an example of every Law Enforcement Patch ever used in Iowa, we have a long way to go, but are working diligently towards that goal.  We are always looking for more historic items and gladly accept collections and individual pieces.  So, if you have an old Des Moines Uniform, Service Revolver, Set of Handcuffs, or any other DMPD item (or any Iowa Badges or Patches), please consider donating them to the Museum.

Sitting in an attic trunk, somewhere, someone has an old DMPD Helmet, similar to the British Bobby Helemts, and I would love to see one in our collection.

Part of my work includes selling items on eBay on behalf of the Museum.  The Museum receives no funds from either the Department or the City and must rely on donations and sales for support. 

100% of the proceeds for all items sold for the Museum go to the Museum.  These auctions are clearly marked and easy to distinguish from items I sell on my own.
