How It Began My grandmother had a dream to help the fellow elderly. Being poor herself she could never accomplish her dream. She also had to rely on her family members for help. I was the family member that had the honor and privilege to live with such a great woman for seven years prior to her passing away. When she passed I did not want my grandmothers dreams to be dismissed with her death. I wanted to realize her dream and hopefully carry her name into the future. To let people know that there are people out there that care. I found a way to hopefully realize Anna's dream one day. That is Grandma Anna's Treasures.
Past
I had a dream of opening my store and being able to donate oodles to the less fortunate. Ten years later my dreams have slightly changed.
Present
After all of these years I still maintain my dream of helping the elderly, but as I have grown and experienced so much throughout the years I have found that so many are in need especially now in this economy. My family and I continue to try to help all those that come into our life, so please help your neighbor, the woman at the store that is short a dollar when paying for her food, the child that you know has no clothes or shoes. It doesn't take much to put a smile on a person's face. I was in a grocery store line and a gentleman ahead of me had eight cans of beans. He counted his change ( I mean pennies), and found he only had enough for six. He told the cashier to put the two cans back, and I handed her the two dollars to pay for the bill. To make a long story short...waiting for me at the front door was the gentleman with the beans thanking me over and over again for paying his bill. I found out that this was all he had to eat for the next month. He lost his job, and had only enough to pay his room rent and nothing else. I took him back into the store and bought him some more food to go along with those beans. It doesn't take much to hand over old items, maybe a couple of dollars just to say, "You are not alone, I care." We are not a rich family. In fact, we are a poor family just getting by, but we have so much more than so many others, and hope that all of you Ebayers out there will take the time to share that plate of food with someone that doesn't have any food.
Over the years I have not accomplished my dream of opening a store, so I can donate oodles of money to help the less fortunate. Instead I was given the chance to be a part of a person's life. It didn't matter whether it was for a moment, a day or months. To share in a person's life, to share a smile, laughter, and to learn from that individual is such a blessing. No amount of money could ever take the place of what these people have given me. The next time you see or here of someone in need try lending a hand. Always remember a can of beans can mean a lot in a person's life. All that I do in life is due to my grandmother "Anna" may her dream touch the masses, so that everyone can have a richer life.
