| I'm a homeschool mom who has been educating her two daughters at home since 1993 using the Principle Approach and good literature. I've been selling used books online since 1996 and I've sold on ebay since 1998 but took a break in 2004. I have just returned to selling again this November 2009. We're in our last 2 years of homeschooling and going through all our shelves so I'll be listing "Vintage Collectible Lovely Treasures and Books" along with other useful home education material in the future.Parents, if you're looking for good collectible vintage books to read aloud to your children in your homeschool bookroom, these kind of books are wonderful for reading together. I've always loved to read so it was a natural fit for me to read to my daughters from the time they were only a few months old. I loved to hold them on my lap and hold a book in front of them, running my finger along the sentences as I read. When they were older, a daughter would sit on each side of me while I held the book between us. Many precious hours were spent together, many books were read, some read so many times we had them almost memorized. To this day, we still enjoy reading good books together although not as routinely as when they were young. It's some thing I don't like to miss. Both Grandmothers read to the girls when they were little so my daughter have grown up with books. Grandparents, you might be able to find some books to read to your grandchildren too.I've been a collector of vintage books since I was young and continued to add to my collection through the years which has become our Seven Pillars Book Nook, our Family Home Library - a Generational Library - to pass on to both my daughters. These special vintage, collectible books are what I call "enduring" books. They're the kind of books Pooh liked, the kind he asked Christopher Robin to read to him while he was wedged tight in Rabbit's front door. He called them "Sustaining Books": "Then would you read a Sustaining Book, such as would help and comfort a Wedged Bear in Great Tightness?" -- they are wonderful books for parents to collect and read aloud to their children. Vintage, collectible books are also good for parents to use for supplementing home education (homeschooling) curriculum and lessons, good keepers for a parent's home library.Books are more like treasures to me so while I'm hunting for "Vintage Collectible Lovely Treasures and Books" to add to our family library, I often find duplicates and other useful resources at garage sales, thrift stores, used book stores and library book sales to share with other like-minded book lovers and home educating (homeschool) parents. Selling books at ebay also helps fund our family home library. My auctioned books are similar to the kind I own -- eclectic, including mostly, but not entirely, used vintage collectible books: vintage children's picture books and chapter books, vintage fiction, children's books both fiction and non-fiction, book sets, with topics of religion, theology, history, biography, politics, science, nature, art, music, food, education, and home education (homeschooling). I some times offer home education (homeschool) curriculum, dvds, videos, cds, records, collectibles, household items, vintage recycled-remade and hand made items. Occasionally there will be book "LOTS" where several books are grouped and sold together in one auction. If you're looking for a way to supplement your funds for purchasing books to add to your home library or homeschool bookroom, or you are wanting become a vintage book collector and seller, my auctions and "book lots" could help with that. From time to time I find vintage books that have more wear than a collector or parent would ever want so these books are just right for the creative person to learn book repair or to use for mixed media altered arts.
I hope you'll find a good supplement for your lessons, a book for an art project, a childhood favorite, or even a new one or two, and, of course, a book to read to your children. Thank you for looking at my auctions! :-)
