Everyone who attended Reuth's Gala Concert enjoyed a special bonus, awaiting them in the lobby, a fascinating of the works of artist Eytan George Hurwitz created during his rehabilitation in Reuth Medical Center following a serious car accident. Pleasing both the eye and heart, Eytan's works tell a life story. "I love to use materials that have a history", he says. And indeed, his pieces are composed of a whole selection of materials he collects regularly: sand, needles and threads, glass fragments collected on the road at the site of an accident, towels from the physiotherapy room and more. Mostly these are items that have been tossed out after use, but he gives them a New context, a new life... Just like his own life that was nearly lost, but was returned to him with great love and patience during the rehabilitation process. Art helped Eytan through a tortuous phase of physical and mental anguish. The artwork on display was created during long sleepless nights as a way to escape from pain, and an expression of his newly emerging inner world. Through his art, and through his dedicated work of Reuth's staff, Eytan has carved out a new life of meaning, giving, and creation. Today he is a volunteer at Reut Medical Center, bringing his humanity and his creative talent to patients in the occupational therapy room and the therapeutic garden.
