August 1981 Essex V6 Ford Capri 3.0 S

As my user id suggests, I am into The Professionals in a big way and have bought a silver Ford Capri 3.0S. It is an August 1981 model with the earlier wheels and fishnet tartan recaro interior fitted just like Bodies car. August was the last month the 3.0S was made before they switched over to the Cologne built 2.8 injection. I have got all the Professionals models including some unusual variations like the Capri with chrome bumpers. I view The Professionals as a James Bond for the small screen and my biggest disappointment was that Lewis Collins never became James Bond. For me the Ford Capri is an icon of the seventies and eigthies like the Chopper bike. There is nothing I like more than listening to that V6 rumble, it has so much more character than modern cars. I am interested in all things retro and I have been collecting toy cars and models for over 25 years and therefore consider myself an expert, I can tell easily when something is a fake or a repaint even though as the fakes get better it is getting harder to tell. However, I always learn something new ever day about toys and thats what keeps me keen to learn more.

The Man with The Golden Gun

Apart from The Professionals my other interest is James Bond. I grew up with the Roger Moore films and my favourite film is the Spy Who Loved Me where the Lotus Esprit drives into the sea. I would like to get a real Lotus but can be a headache, I think the shape of the lotus is superb its just a shame about the build quality. My favourite item in my collection is my James Bond 007 Golden Gun. This gun is a custom-made 4.2 calibre gold-plated non firing pistol plated in 24 carat gold. It can be broken down it to it's components: cigarette case, Colibri lighter, Dunhill fountain pen and cuff link and re-assembled to create the instantly recognisable gun.
