Well it started with all the purpose and planning of a couple of beachcombers. You know the story, anything remotely pretty or shiny or oddly shaped made it's way back home from yard-sales and flea markets and estate sales between Atlanta, where we used to live, and Minneapolis, where Caara's family is from. Very soon a happy gumbo of sticks, stones and bones filled the house and yard. 

Then we discovered as eBay surfers that, around eBay Bay, the beachcombing opportunities were limitless and you didn't have to make do with what you happened to stumble on. Wow! Suddenly you could be oh-so-selective. Now you could be the only person on the planet with six copies of the same piece of 1906 sheet music. Best of all, you didn't need to go and get the treasure. People would very kindly pack it up and send it to you. Caara and I were in shoreline Shangri-la. But even in paradise you run out of room, and one's favorites change and grow and we started shipping off the surplus back into eBay Bay.

It's been a hard day at the beach!

Gradually we cleared away until we were left with what we couldn't bear to part with. But the eBay "sand-wagon" (sandy beaches, beachcombing, stay with me...I'm going to beat this metaphor to death!) was rolling now and we had gotten used to the modest addition to our funds it was producing. So out we went again with renewed vigor to forage at local estate sales and auctions, but more selective in things we chose, enjoying them as they passed through, and selling them on to a growing number of eBayers who seemed to like what we were offering.

Caara's passion is for antique toys and vintage figural pieces and all things deco to mid-century modern. Mine is more 'traditional'. Anything Staffordshire, American art pottery, art glass, oriental porcelain, a wide range of paintings and prints and, my greatest passion of all, antique silver.

Only a very select sample of the items we run across each week get chosen for listing. We arrange for the listings to close usually on a Sunday or a Monday evening (US Eastern Time). That way we maintain as high a standard as we can of what we believe is truly beautiful (and sometimes useful) and guarantee it's packed and off to each high bidder within 48 hours.

I hope you will begin to see a style emerging in what we offer (let me know if you do 'cos we can't for the life of us see what it is) and that you will bookmark us in your Favorite Sellers list or check back from time to time to see what's washed up on our bit of the Bay.
